TE50
and TS50
The
TE50 and TS50 are based on the normal
Family Falcon platform, but besides four
wheels, not much else is the same to the
normal award winning family sedan. The TE
is aimed squarely at the TWR (HSV)
Clubsport at $57,000 each for the manual
and the TS is aimed at the Clubsport R8
costing just $66,000, around $8K down from
the last model.
Both
cars are powered by the good old trusty
Windsor V8 that has served Ford for over
40 years. But there is one difference and
that is that the engines have been stoked
to 5.6 litres now producing 250kW's and
500Nm of torque. Along with breathing
better than the 5.0 V8 it is also ,as you
can see, a lot more powerful. It produces
more than an XR8's torque at less than
2000rpm.
They
both have the signature AU head lights but
besides them, and the familiar grill, the
front looks very different from the Forte.
The body kit was inspired by the V8
Supercar with a large air dam and meaty
side skirts which make the car look a lot
more low down and meaty. Also at the back
you will see more of its V8 Supercar
origins where a huge rear wing, a delete
option, dominated the rear end. Below that
are two chrome exhaust pipes so you can
hear the thumping V8 loud and
clear.
Inside
it looks more like the basic family Forte
with the air con, CD and other goodies in
the middle. If it weren't for the colour
codes momo steering wheel with matching
black with red or blue leather then you
might forget you were in a fire breathing
dragon ( until you touch the right
pedal).
High
performance Dunlop SP9000 245/40 Zr18
tyres come complete with two different
style mags. 18 by 8-inch alloy wheels are
fitted on the TS50 while the TE50 gets the
multi-spoke Azzuro alloys that were
optional on the old model.
Inside the wheels re 329mm Ventilated and
grooved front discs with twin-piston
calipers and 287 mm grooved discs at the
rear and of course ABS is standard on all
the models. But if you want the full
package, you can get a huge Brembo brake
with 355 mm cross-drilled and ventilated
discs up front and 330 mm cross drilled
and ventilated rear discs, all with four
piston calipers.
